AIBO Messenger

AIBO will tell you when you have email and will read the message to you. Through voice commands or the touch sensors, you can have AIBO send and receive email. Tell AIBO what about your favorite web site and AIBO will fetch the digital news. AIBO Messenger can keep you informed, reminding you of important appointments, even favorite TV programs. AIBO Messenger software when connected to a PC via a wireless LAN card, allows AIBO to inform owners that email has arrived, read the contents of a message and give text based information such as news and weather data from a home page in response to a special key word. Also it is possible to manipulate mail software by using the voice recognition function and sensors. MAP I compatible mail software is necessary (Outlook Express5.5, Eudora4.3).

AIBO Recognition is an AIBO-ware 'Memory Stick' that instantly lets you interact with a fully mature robot. The highlight of this new AIBO-ware is that AIBO is now capable of Self-Recharging. AIBO will know on its own when its battery needs to be charged. AIBO will then locate its Energy Station and walk over to it to recharge itself. This action can be triggered by a voice command as well. When AIBO is charged and ready for action, it will walk off the Energy Station by itself, and resume its autonomous nature.

In addition, this new AIBO-ware has Owner Recognition. AIBO is now capable of distinguishing its owner's face and voice from other people. After registering your face and voice, AIBO will be able to recognize you as its owner. For example, if you are playing with AIBO with a group of friends, AIBO will know that you have told it to sit down versus a command from someone else. Furthermore, if you call out AIBO's name, it will look up at you affectionately and be delighted.

AIBO-ware enhances the AIBO entertainment experience by allowing communication with AIBO through touch sensors and voice commands. Through interaction, AIBO will become your unique companion. AIBO also has the capability to take and store up to 20 digital photographs with its CMOS camera. Download the stored .jpg images from the 'Memory Stick' to see what AIBO sees.

AIBO Dancer is an AIBO-ware software that turns your AIBO into a party animal! Start up your AIBO with the AIBO Dancer Memory Stick and AIBO will be able to hear the same party tunes that you are listening to. Play a song for AIBO - once it has found a beat, it will select dance moves in accordance to the beat it has found. AIBO will continue to listen to the beats, changing its moves along with the tune.

AIBO Life 2

This AIBO-ware "Memory Stick" allows you to raise AIBO from infant to adult. Autonomous features enable AIBO to be independent and act on its own. Don't forget that your interaction is also important - AIBO's personality depends on your communication. Special training and naming modes let you teach AIBO actions through the touch sensors and switches. Speak to AIBO and it will respond to any of the 75 voice commands that it recognizes. Give AIBO a special name and it will respond. Also, tell it your name, and AIBO will sometimes call out to you.

Additional features include: AIBO communication between other AIBO's using AIBO Life 2 or AIBO Explorer, digital snapshots saved as JPEG's to the "Memory Stick", and Step Mode, where AIBO makes different noises when it walks.

AIBO Explorer is an AIBO-ware "Memory Stick" that instantly lets you interact with a fully mature robot. To make communication easier, AIBO will immediately recognize all 75 voice commands. In autonomous mode, AIBO is curious and will explore its surroundings on its own. AIBO will show its emotions and feelings through motions, sounds and expressive gestures. Put AIBO in Surveillance mode, and have it guard your room by taking pictures of anything that moves. If you communicate well with AIBO, it will go into a hyperactive Boost mode.

Additional features include: Choreography mode: AIBO learns original actions and plays them back from your own voice commands, AIBO as a musical instrument in AIBO Melody mode and AIBO communication with other AIBO's using AIBO Explorer or AIBO Life 2.

AIBO Navigator is PC-based software that allows you to control and navigate AIBO via a wireless LAN connection from a computer. An improved graphic interface enhances the experience of virtually controlling a robot. When AIBO ventures out, it sends back images and sounds to your computer in real-time. If you see something you like, you can capture a digital still. You also have the ability to send a message or a sound back to AIBO. Use a joystick, and you can feel AIBO's movement (*when using a Microsoft Joystick equipped with Side Winder Force Feedback).

Additional features include: The ability to play back original motions and actions created in AIBO Master Studio 1.1. (*available Spring, 2002)

AIBO EYES for ERS-210/220 Series, is an AIBO-ware application that allows you to stay connected to, and monitor your home via AIBO. AIBO EYES elevates AIBO to the next level as your personal photographer and messenger. With AIBO EYES, a broadband Internet connection, and a wireless router or access point *, you can now send e-mail commands to AIBO to take pictures of what it sees, and AIBO will share these images (in JPEG format) with you via e-mail.

Another fun feature lets you have AIBO take pictures at a customized interval so you can check on what’s cooking at home or see your family’s daily activities through AIBO’s own “eyes.”

AIBO will also check your e-mail server for new e-mails. On top of this, you can send AIBO an e-mail command and AIBO will deliver pre-recorded messages, or songs such as When the Saints Go Marching In or Ode to Joy, etc. When you’re not using AIBO as a photographer or messenger, AIBO has some autonomous behaviors ** and will walk around and play with its favorite pink ball.
