The ERS-312 or MACARON was introduced on September 22nd 2001. The MACARON is a cheaper version AIBO and does not have wireless capabilities. The 312 is also refereed to as an LM series robot. The 312 is available only in black/dark gray. The sensors on the 312 are the tail and the movement of AIBO's head, up for scolding or down for praise. The light on the top of AIBO's head is for interpreting his/her mood. There are also sensors on each paw. The ERS-312B was made available only in Japan and added Bluetooth connectivity, controlled by the supplied remote. Please note: The Bluetooth remote called the Handy Viewer can only be used with a Bluetooth enabled AIBO and Bluetooth specific software.
