The ERS-220 was introduced on November 7th 2001. The AIBO has a more futuristic look than the other AIBO's and is often referred to as the Terminator style robot. The 220 only came in the Silver color with Black highlights. The AIBO has several lights around the head and on his/her tail and is a great light show if the room is dark. The sensors on the 220 are the chin sensor, the head antenna, and four buttons on the tail. There is also a headlight that pops up out of AIBO's head. There are also sensors on each paw. On June 24th 2002 the 220 was offered with a new Super Core processor that doubled the speed of the previous model. Sony regrettably never wrote any software to specifically take advantage of the increased speed. The "A" was added to the model number (ERS-220A) to signify the Super Core The ERS-220E1 (Transformation Kit) is a way to upgrade your existing 210 to the new 220 style robot. The TK comes with the head, tail, four legs, and a memory stick to upgrade the flash memory of your existing core.
